This new project can be a collaboration with Kara Gibson, a fellow graduate scholar here at NAU who is finding out the impacts of thinning and burning forest restoration remedies on soil microbes inside the Caldera. To discover the consequences of and differences between greenhouse grown moss and subject collected moss we will test the effectiveness of both treatments at, stabilizing soils, growing infiltration, restoring soil microbial communities, restoring nutrient cycling, and facilitating vascular plant restoration in these degraded ecosystems.
